The challenge

Leukemia is a type of blood cancer that causes the excess production of immature or abnormal leukocytes (white blood cells). Patients receive treatment over an extended amount of time during which they need to be monitored. When discharged from the hospital early, nurses are required to make house visits over two weeks for up to three times a day.

The team’s task was to devise a technological solution for monitoring the vitals of remote patients with the goal of reducing the overall amount of patient visits while maintaining the relationship between patients and caretakers.
