Re-imagining suburban railway stations -- Kooyong

SMEC

2020 | Semester 2

The challenge

Suburban railway stations are based on a design template constructed in the early 1900s.  As our understandings of travellers’ needs have changed, engineers and architects have “stuck-on” features to manage the needs of passengers who are not able-bodied adult English speakers.

The team’s task was to come up with a set of innovative proposals for the redesign of a station adjacent an institute for the blind in suburban Melbourne.
