Redefining vertical agriculture

The challenge

Vertical gardens are, as the name suggests, gardens that are grown up the walls of buildings.  Although vertical gardens are growing in popularity, their building and maintenance is currently firmly in the domain of art, rather than science.

The team's task was to propose an innovative solution that could shape the way vertical gardens will be built and maintained.

The project is part of a larger project led by leaders in Urban Development, Engineering, Innovation, Forestry, Chemistry and BigData Science that are working to improve the green spaces in the City of Melbourne. More info about these can be found on: www.urbanwildify.org.
